The Rail Industry Worker Program is committed to ensuring workers’ personal and medical information is managed in accordance with the Permission Access Agreement and Privacy Policy – RIW Program.
When the COVID immunisation program commenced in Australia in 2021 and immunisation health directions were introduced, we sought endorsement and approval from the National Rail Industry Worker Governance Committee (NRIWGC) to manage COVID immunisation status as an employer-based competency in the RIW System, with the upload of a COVID-19 Declaration Form (non-medical information) to be verified by the competency owner. It came to our attention that some evidence files verified included immunisation statements from the Australian Immunisation Register, which is not in line with how medical information should be managed.
From 25 May 2023, we will remove this list of employer-based COVID-19 competencies, including associated evidence files, from the RIW System.
What does this mean for my organisation?
If you have created an employer-based COVID-related competency for your organisation, please check the list of the competencies being removed.
An MTA Key Account Manager will reach out to your organisation directly about managing any amendments to job roles, network, project or site requirements.
Where can I store immunisation records?
Last year, we released new functionality in the RIW System to manage additional medical information, which includes immunisation records. This functionality uses the same secure management applied in the RIW System for rail health (medical) assessments and drug & alcohol results.
COVID immunisations can now be added to a Rail Industry Worker profile directly by an Authorised Health Professional or uploaded by an employer and verified by the RIW Service Desk.
