On 12 October 2022, the RIW System released over 90 system improvements. We have worked with industry and listened to your feedback, delivering new features or fixes to ensure the RIW System continues to provide a system fit for industry. Read on for what’s new for Medical Providers.
Drug and alcohol test result pop-up
When recording a drug or alcohol result, we have added a pop-up to to confirm you wish to add the record. Recording a positive drug or alcohol result will apply an immediate National block to the worker’s profile, preventing them from using their RIW card.
Independently record drug and alcohol test results
We have updated how a job role is now managed in the RIW System, which now requires an independent drug test pass or alcohol test pass. As such, drug or alcohol test results must be recorded separately.
Update to breathalyser test records – Breath Alcohol (BrAC)
All references to blood alcohol (BAC) in the RIW System have been updated to breath alcohol (BrAC), in line with Chief Medical Officer Council advice and Australian Standard AS3547:2019.
Breathalyser test records (not the result) are now recorded separately on a Rail Industry Worker profile. Where a breathalyser test record results in a non-negative result, a site block is applied to the worker, and a confirmatory test must be conducted to confirm the alcohol test result.
Additional Medical Information
We have added new system functionality to record Additional Medical Information (AMI) for Rail Industry Workers, which allows the management of a variety of medical information that is not a rail health assessment (medical) or a drug & alcohol assessment. For more information on this refer to What is additional medical information?
We are yet to approve any AMI types for capture, but will provide more information on this this when available.
Deleting a medical file
If you have uploaded a rail health (medical) assessment, drug or alcohol test result, or Additional Medical Information item in error, you can request it’s deletion from the RIW Service Desk by completing the request to delete medical file.
