What services will be affected?
The following services will be unavailable during the service interruption window:
RIW System
myRIW System
RIW App
Web Card Reader
Veritas ID Check Platform
Kiosks, Tablets and Turnstiles (can be used in offline mode)
During the interruption, the RIW Service Desk will be unavailable for calls, and a recorded message will advise of the service interruption. Queries can still be sent through to the RIW Service Desk on info@riw.net.au and will be addressed once system functionality is returned.
How can you prepare for the outage? Network Operators, Contractors in Charge, Employers and Access Controllers/Spot Checkers have been advised about the service interruption and to plan appropriately to manage the outage. This may include alternative methods for swiping workers into site and verifying competencies or job roles. Please follow local instructions as required.
Cardholders will be unable to access myRIW during the outage.
What is changing?
We have some exciting new changes coming, which we’ve detailed in full on the RIW System Updates page. Below is a short list of changes that may affect RIW cardholders.
A new messaging feature will allow Network Operators and Contractors In Charge to send secure, interactive, multi-media rich safety related messages direct to cardholders through the Vircarda App, the virtual wallet that stores a cardholders RIW virtual card. Don’t have a virtual RIW card yet? Ask your Employer to send it to you, and then follow our instructions on how to install the Vircarda App to manage your virtual RIW card.
We’ve enhanced system notifications with the ability for RIW cardholders to toggle on/off system notifications, such as medical, competency and subscription expiry notifications. Also RIW cardholders can now elect to receive system notifications via email, through the Vircarda App or on both (feature available from 9 April 2021).
The Permission Access Agreement (PAA), Privacy Policy and RIW Privacy Protocol has been updated to reflect that Network Operators can now view cardholder information in the RIW System for the purpose of reviewing RIWs who hold a rail corridor access job role for the Network Operator.
The RIW System and myRIW will be unavailable for use between 10:00-22:00hrs AEST on Thursday 8 April 2021.
The Permission Access Agreement (PAA), Privacy Policy and RIW Privacy Protocol has been updated to allow Network Operators to view a cardholders profile if they hold their Network Rail Corridor Access Job Role. No action is required to re-accept the PAA, however please read these documents carefully, as continuing to use your RIW card will mean you accept them.
