The RIW Team is excited to exhibit at AusRAIL PLUS when it returns to Sydney from 28 February – 2 March 2022 at the International Convention Centre, Sydney. Hosted by the Australasian Railway Association, this three-day event brings together all facets of the rail industry under the one roof. It incorporates an expansive conference program combined with an extensive trade exhibition and adjoining social events.

Tips for managing RIW ID checks

When an employer adds a new Rail Industry Worker in the RIW System, the cardholder must undertake an ID check as part of onboarding to validate their identity. This check is also required on the 10th anniversary of the cardholder RIW profile.

To ensure ID checks are processed smoothly, the following tips may assist in progressing applications.

When you first add a new cardholder, ensure the cardholder’s core details, such as their first name, middle name, surname and date of birth, exactly match their identification document.
Ensure cardholders have the required Australian identification documents to support their ID check before ordering the ID check. If the cardholder resides or is an overseas resident, you must complete an Overseas Cardholder ID Check Service Request.
Identification photographs must meet RIW’s minimum requirements, similar to passport photo guidelines.
Cardholders must complete the ID check within ten days of the ID check being ordered. If the ten days lapse, the Employer will need to re-order and pay for another ID check.

If a cardholder hasn’t received or has deleted their ID check request email, you can still access their login link easily from their RIW profile.

Helping Rail Industry Workers manage stress and build long-term resilience

The RIW Program is proud to support the RAILRES App, a free self-help resource for rail industry workers developed by the TrackSAFE Foundation as part of its suite of mental health and trauma management support tools.

The App is designed to assist rail industry workers in managing stress and building long-term resilience. The App provides:

Access to immediate support services including Employee Assistance Program phone numbers and crisis lines.
Interactive, easy-to-use tools that the user can access on the go, such as controlled breathing, progressive muscle relaxation and slowing down and stopping thoughts.
A scheduler that allows users to set goals to practice the tools regularly.
A resilience self-assessment that can help users keep track of their progress over time.

The App is available for free download for iPhone and Android devices via Google Play and App Stores.
