Changes to PTA job roles – requirement for Safety Critical Communication training
Rail safety workers who undertake communications in the Public Transport Authority (PTA) network must exercise good practice communication behaviours to meet the performance expectations of 9102-000-001 – NS001 Network Communication. Safety Critical Communication training was introduced to ensure the requirements and performance expectations of the Network Communication Standard were applied uniformly.
Compliance
From the 1 July 2022, all PTA job roles (except Supervised Worker) will require:
Certificate.PTA TLIF0008 Apply safety critical communications in the rail environment (910065)
If a worker has not completed Safety Critical Communication Training by the 1 July 2022, their RIW job role (except Supervised Worker) will become invalid until the competency has been uploaded to RIW.

PTA – Protection Officer 2 (PO2)
PTA – Protection Officer 3 (PO3)
PTA – Possession Protection Officer (PPO)
PTA – Road Rail Vehicle (RRV) Safeworking
PTA – Track Machine
PTA – Individual Access (IA)
PTA – Operations Officer (OO)
PTA – Rail Traffic Crew (RTC Urban)
PTA – Person Responsible Electrical Safety (PRES)
