Scheduled Service Interruption
Thursday 8 April 2021, 10:00hrs AEST
Thursday 8 April 2021, 22:00hrs AEST
What services will be affected?
The following services will be unavailable during the service interruption window:
Web Card Reader
Kiosks, Tablets and Turnstiles (can be used in offline mode)
During the interruption, the RIW Service Desk will be unavailable for calls, and a recorded message will advise of the service interruption. Queries can still be sent through to the RIW Service Desk on [email protected] and will be addressed once system functionality is returned.
How can you prepare for the outage? Please contact your Employer or Contractor In Charge to discuss their plans for managing the service interruption, which may include alternative methods of swiping workers into site. All RIW System Users have been advised about the interruption and to plan appropriately, such as knowing who will be on site during the outage and making available RIW System reports that can assist in verifying competencies and/or job roles for cardholders.
For RIW App Users, which includes Access Controllers, Spot Checkers and cardholders who self-swipe, there is one additional step.
Before 10:00hrs AEST on Thursday 8 April 2021, we require all RIW App users to log out of the RIW App.
To do this, click on the three dots in the top right hand corner of the RIW App screen and choose Logout.
After the service interruption, RIW App Users will also need to download the new version of the RIW App. We will email you once this is available for download.
What is changing?
We have some exciting new changes coming, which we’ve detailed in full on the RIW System Updates page. Below is a short list of changes that will affect those who use the RIW App. Please click on the links below to access our RIW Knowledge Centre articles which detail the changes.
Update to the RIW App login screen instructing users to scan their own card to begin using the RIW App.
If working hour rules are applied at a site and a cardholder swipes in with an Access Controller where those working hour rules have been exceeded, then an access denied message will display. The Access Controller must review the cardholders work hours to determine if the cardholder is fatigued, and either deny or permit entry to site based on their assessment.
Near Field Communication (NFC) is now also available for iPhones (previously only Android devices could use this functionality). This allows a smart device (which is NFC enabled) to read the smart chip in the RIW card, allowing for offline reading capability.
