Metro Trains Australia (MTA) is committed to protecting the privacy of Rail Industry Worker Participants. To ensure participant personal information is managed securely we have revised the following documents:
- Permission Access Agreement
- Privacy Policy – RIW Program
- RIW Privacy Protocol
All changes have been approved by the National Rail Industry Worker Operations Committee (NRIWOC).
What’s changed?
Amendments to the policy have been made in relation to obtaining a workers’ consent to form an employment or association with an RIW Participant. This means that workers will be notified of a new employment or association request and will have the ability to "opt-out" of sharing their personal information with the Employer or Principal Contractor who sent the request.
Changes to the policy now reflect the new RIW System functionality such as the transfer of data via Secure File Transfer Protocol (SFTP) or Application Programming Interface (API).
Various changes have been made to strengthen privacy and system security requirements, such as clarifying that persistent cookies may be retained across different browser sessions for the RIW website. Persistent cookies are used for a number of reasons including multi-factor authentication and other security protections.
Amendments have also been made to reflect MTA surveys, on behalf of RIW Participants, to collect certain social diversity data as required for RIW Participants to comply with workforce participant and diversity reporting requirements imposed by various government agencies.
