V/Line News - Rail Industry Worker

This communication is to advise you of some important changes in the V/Line signalling space to simplify job roles currently managed in the RIW System.

A new V/Line Signalling Design, Test and Train Control System Matrix will be effective 30 June 2021 and is available for review here.

In summary, the following changes will occur:

All previous V/Line signalling job roles in the RIW System will be retired and have been renamed as V/Line – OLD ROLE {job role name} to indicate these job roles should no longer be assigned. These include:

V/Line – OLD ROLE Control Systems & Comms Engineer
V/Line – OLD ROLE Control Systems & Comms Senior Engineer
V/Line – OLD ROLE Control Systems & Comms Technician
V/Line – OLD ROLE Signal Assistant Designer
V/Line – OLD ROLE Signal Assistant Tester
V/Line – OLD ROLE Signal Design Engineer
V/Line – OLD ROLE Signal Designer
V/Line – OLD ROLE Signal Principles / Senior Test Engineer
V/Line – OLD ROLE Signal Principles / Senior Design Engineer
V/Line – OLD ROLE Signal Test Engineer
V/Line – OLD ROLE Signal Tester
V/Line – OLD ROLE Signals Assessor

All new V/Line signalling job roles, as per the new matrix, have been created in the RIW System and have been renamed V/line – 2021 {job role name} * for ease of identification. These are now available for assignment by Employer Administrators for suitably qualified RIW cardholders.

* The new job roles in the V/Line Signalling Design, Test and Train Control System Matrix do not include 2021 in their title. When the old signalling job roles are retired, 2021 will be removed from the new job role names in the RIW System.
